Sunday of Orthodoxy at Panagia!

The first Sunday in Lent is known as the Sunday of Orthodoxy as the Church commemorates the proper role and use of Iconography in the worship services of the Church.  Following the decisions of the 7th Ecumenical Council in the 8th century, Icons are meant to be venerated and honoured, but never worshipped, for worship belongs exclusively to God!  To mark this Triumph of Orthodoxy, a Procession of the Holy Icons was conducted by the children and students of our Sunday School, led by the Altar Servers, along with the Parish Leadership representatives and Clergy.  Excerpts of the Synodikon of Orthodoxy was read by the Clergy and Memory Eternal was chanted to all who gave their lives in defence of the Holy Icons.
